When the year 2000 came around, Hip Hop took a long look at itself and found things had indeed changed. Those artists that came out in the 80s and early 90s were soon looked upon as the OGs and the music started to draw more attention to itself instead of the issues that was prevalent on the minds of the majority. Anthems abound. Art imitated life even more. And the art itself would start to meander into "shallow" waters (read: watered down hip hop). Fortunately, there were still artists that blazed the charts with great integrity like Dead Prez, Ghostface Killah, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien and Reflection Eternal (Talib and HiTek).
